Il saggio qui proposto è lo sviluppo seguente a una mia interpretazione del lavoro artistico di Josh smith visto alla Galleria Massimo de Carlo di Milano.

TRATTAZIONE SUL COLLO

Il collo come canale, cavo trasmettitore, guaina del circuito neuronale, collo elettrico, tubatura scoperta, spazio vulnerabile di contatto dalle eccezionali capacità sensoriali e sensitive, collo da spedire, bagaglio di concetti-esperienze, collo da aprire o richiudere, collo da riempire, da soffocare, collo da stringere o massaggiare, collo docile e aggraziato, collo morbido e curato, collo muscoloso, lungo collo del cavallo e collo del piede, collo al collare, collo da incidere, collo da liberare.

Nel breve tratto del collo accadono tutte le nostre care trasmutazioni, quelle importanti, le essenziali, ramificate. Collante tra la materia e il senso, diffusore vocale dall’emozione alla ragione, diplomatico dell’intelligenza ‘nostra’ e di quella del ‘corpo’, ambasciatore onorevole, agente immobiliare, servo di uno stato corrotto, messaggero degli dèi.

Il collo trascura l’ingerenza per dare esempio di organicità e interdipendenza. Nel suo fare mutevole non si adagia sugli allori delle strutture ferme, bloccate come la sua, anzi, si propone come precursore di un cambiamento. Sacrificandosi il collo adotta una responsabilità empatica fondamentale che vale il completo funzionamento dell’io persona, della materia e dello spirito.

All’interno di uno spazio formale, potente, importante, facoltoso, il collo rimane se stesso, si adatta, comunica, dà la spinta al nuovo e elabora il passato prossimo e remoto. Essenziale per la comunicazione è che il messaggio arrivi, non dove o perché. Il collo, in maniera impeccabile, lo spedisce proteggendone lo stato, privato o pubblico, assicurandogli una delivery genuina, intatta.

Il collo mette in relazione l’istituzionale e l’underground, e lo fa attraverso la sua estetica. Con eleganza e prudenza il collo mantiene la sua identità di divulgatore mostrandosi, offrendo agli organi percettivi una sofisticata delicatezza anche quando la propria fisicità esaltata potrebbe imporre dell’altro. Nel dolore il collo può offrire piacere, e viceversa nel provocare piacere è capace di spalancare abissi sconfinati.

Il collo infine offre la possibilità del viaggio, ma non ti violenta in una meta ostile. E anche se l’ambiente non è congeniale, attraverso il collo si può ascoltare l’Oltre e l’Altro: deglutiti, ingurgitati, trattenuti, e poi, accidentalmente o volontariamente, attraverso il collo rinascono ed escono e con urla con canti lo si ricorda, lo si spiega a chi non si accorge o si dimentica di possedere un collo.

The essay proposed here is the following development of my interpretation of Josh Smith’s artistic work seen at the Massimo de Carlo gallery in Milan.

DISCOURSE ON THE NECK

The neck as a channel, transmitter cable, neuronal circuit sheath, electric neck, uncovered pipe, vulnerable contact point with exceptional sensorial and sensitive capabilities, package to be sent, the baggage of concepts-experiences, neck to be opened or closed, neck to be filled, to be chocked, neck to be tightened or massaged, docile and graceful neck, soft and gentle neck, muscular neck, long horse neck and instep, neck on a neck collar, neck to be punctured, neck to release.

In the short stretch area of the neck, all our dearest transmutations take place, the important ones, the essential ones, the ramified ones.

The glue between matter and meaning, vocal diffuser from emotion to reason, diplomat between ‘our’ intelligence and that one of the ‘body’, honorable ambassador, real estate agent, servant of a corrupt state, messenger of the gods.

The neck neglects interference to give an example of organicity and interdependence. In his changing behavior, he does not rest on the laurels of established structures, opposite to its blocked nature, the neck proposes itself as a precursor of change. An act of sacrifice that adopts a fundamental empathic responsibility valid for the complete functioning of the “I” person, of his/her matter and spirit.

Within a formal, powerful, important, wealthy space, the neck remains itself, adapts, communicates, pushes the novelty, and elaborates on the near and distant past.

Essential to communication is that the message will yield to the receiver, not where or why. The neck, in an impeccable way, ships it, protecting its state, private or public, ensuring a genuine, intact delivery.

The neck connects the institutional and the underground, and it does so through its aesthetics. With elegance and prudence, the neck maintains its identity as a communicator by showing itself, offering the perceptive organs a sophisticated delicacy even when one’s exalted physicality could impose something else.

In pain, the neck can offer pleasure, and vice versa in causing pleasure it is capable of opening up boundless abysses.

Last but not least, the neck offers the possibility of travel but does not rape you in a hostile destination. And even if the environment is not congenial, through the neck you can hear the Beyond and the Other: swallowed, ingested, held back, and then, accidentally or voluntarily, through the neck they reborn and are pushed out trough screams, with songs, songs to remember, it is explained, to those who do not notice or forgets, that they have a neck.
