Céline Homme ha sfilato a Le Palace, il leggendario nightclub di Parigi

Ieri sera Hedi Slimane ha presentato la nuova collezione menswear AW23 presso il Théâtre Le Palace, luogo simbolico della nightlife parigina. Il “Pier 54 francese”, così veniva definito negli anni settanta, è un luogo caro a Hedi Slimane, per custodire molti dei ricordi legati alla sua adolescenza.

Costruito nel XVII secolo, l’edificio in rue Faubourg Montmartre è stato un teatro e una sala da ballo prima che l’impresario Fabrice Emaer lo trasformasse in uno dei locali notturni più in voga. Le Palace è un luogo mitico per coniugare passato e presente. È stato rifugio segreto per molti. Il club degli audaci e dei creativi. Lo frequentavano personalità come Mick Jagger, Roland Barthes, Prince, Thierry Mugler, Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld e molti altri. Luogo d’eccitazione del moderno, Le Palace incarna l’utopia: ha coniugato aristocratici e punk e ha accolto la comunità LGBT parigina.

In uno spazio Decò senza tempo, la nuova collezione è stata presentata attraverso un immaginario dispersivo sintomo dell’alienazione metropolitana. L’atmosfera è stata scandita dal sound provocatorio dei Suicide, il duo di musicisti attivo dagli anni settanta e composto da Alan Vega e Martin Rev, protagonisti del CBGB e della scena musicale new wave.

La collezione racconta i valori di quegli anni sovversivi mixati all’irriverenza visionaria del designer, scandita da una sua personalissima rockstar attitude, sagome edgy e texture raffinate. La collezione comunica un senso di anticonformismo modulato da un tailoring elegante, cappotti faux fur, tessuti e accessori in pelle, frange in lurex, borchie ed elementi cropped.

Phoebe Philo’s back: a settembre il debutto del suo nuovo brand

Se vi stavate chiedendo, ancora una volta, che fine avesse fatto la fashion designer britannica, dopo l’annuncio di un suo inatteso ritorno, beh, mistero risolto. Due giorni fa Phoebe Philo ha comunicato su Instagram il lancio del suo omonimo brand prossimamente a settembre.

“Essere di nuovo nel mio studio a creare è stato emozionante e incredibilmente appagante. Non vedo l’ora di tornare in contatto con il mio pubblico e con le persone di tutto il mondo. Essere indipendente, governare e sperimentare alle mie condizioni è estremamente significativo per me”, ha dichiarato.

La designer è particolarmente amata dal fashion system, sicuramente per la posizione di direttore creativo nel brand francese Celine dal 2008 al 2018. Ma, in particolare, per il contributo apportato alle collezioni donna di Chloé, la maison che ha guidato dal 2001 al 2006, per avere scardinato molti degli elementi estetici che erano stati fino ad allora incatenati al guardaroba femminile degli anni novanta. Linee spigolose e dritte, colori freddi e pastello, non erano ancora riusciti a liberare la donna da quella visione ‘sessualizzata’ delle epoche precedenti. Phoebe Philo è riuscita a segnare la storia della femminilità moderna portando in scena un minimalismo puro e ‘sicuro di sé. Tra silhouette rilassate ed essenziali, la sua estetica narra storie di donne libere e indipendenti.

La collaborazione tra A Better Mistake e il duo techno 999999999

A Better Mistake ha svelato la nuova collaborazione connessa al mondo musicale, questa volta insieme al duo techno 999999999.

Core della capsule è la t-shirt over. Il capo sintetizza perfettamente la passione per la musica elettronica dei fondatori Simone Ferraro e Marco Agnolin con gli elementi che compongono l’estetica genderless e seasonless del brand, tra asimmetrie, tagli fluidi e tessuti leisurewear. Mentre le grafiche sviluppate in collaborazione con l’artista newyorkese Running Files ricordano le cover psichedeliche dell’acid techno degli anni novanta.

La collezione è andata subito sold out, ma si prevede un nuovo drop in questi giorni. Stay tuned!

Burberry by Daniel Lee: svelata la campagna curata dal nuovo direttore creativo

A settembre scorso l’annuncio: Daniel Lee prenderà il posto di Riccardo Tisci come nuovo direttore creativo di Burberry.

Lasciato l’incarico da Bottega Veneta che ricopriva dal 2018 e con un trascorso tra gli uffici stile di Celine, Maison Margiela e Balenciaga, Daniel Lee è ora approdato da Burberry, con l’obiettivo di supervisionare tutte le collezioni: uomo, donna e bambino. Il debutto della sua prima collezione è previsto per il 20 febbraio, in occasione della London Fashion Week.

Con l’intento di dare al pubblico un assaggio di quello che sarà il suo tributo, è stata svelata la nuova campagna Burberry firmata dal fotografo e regista Tyrone Lebon. Dagli scatti si può ammirare il panorama londinese, dall’Albert Bridge al Trafalgar Square.

Ma c’è un dettaglio che più di tutti salta all’occhio: il nuovo logo del marchio pensato appositamente per annunciare il re-branding. Potremmo dire che Lee ha rispolverato gli archivi poichè ecco che riappare l’immagine storica del cavaliere equestre, simbolo di grandezza, orgoglio e purezza. In una mano tiene lo scudo che simboleggia protezione. Nell’altra, una bandiera incisa con la parola ‘Prorsum’ (dal latino ‘Avanti’). Un portafortuna per dare inizio alla nuova era.

Copenaghen Fashion Week: 3 brand da tenere d’occhio

La Fashion Week scandinava si è conclusa qualche giorno fa e le novità per la FW23 emerse dalla settimana della moda più green del fashion system non sono state poche. Ecco 3 brand che ci hanno conquistato:

(di)vision

La presentazione della collezione co-ed del brand (di)vision è stata come assistere ad un after party intrinseco di colpi di scena. E si, con questo sicuramente intendiamo la tovaglia che si è trasformata nello strascico della gonna macchiata di vino indossata dalla modella Sara Dahling. La forte presenza di una narrativa e di un set design ben pensato ha catturato l’attenzione di tutti. Tavole apparecchiate con piatti e bicchieri sporchi, mozziconi di sigaretta e candele, hanno fatto da stage a una passerella completamente ‘freak’ che punk è dir poco.

P.L.N.

P.L.N. ha messo in scena una vera e propria apocalisse gotica per la FW23. Una passerella completamente dark era illuminata a tratti da fasci di luce bianca per risaltare i capi interamente realizzati in pelle sostenibile proveniente soprattutto da deadstock e impreziosita da borchie ed elementi metallici. Una palette composta da neri, marroni scuri e una scala di grigi è il tassello finale che costruisce l’identità gorpcore e utilitaristica del brand.

Latimmier

In un’ambientazione intima e rilassata, la nuova collezione di Latimmier, ad ogni look, sembrava recitare il verso di una poesia d’amore. In questa era di accelerazione e schizofrenia, la moda è pur sempre amore ma anche il timore di non farcela. Il fondatore Ervin Latimer ha raccontato queste sue intime sensazioni nelle pieghe e nei disegni degli abiti che nascondono la metamorfosi di un tempo compresso in attimi troppo sfuggenti.

Céline staged at legendary Parisian nightclub Le Palace

Hedi Slimane presented the new AW23 menswear collection at Théâtre Le Palace, a symbolic place of Parisian nightlife. The “French Pier 54“, as it was called in the Seventies, is a place dear to the designer to keep many of the memories related to his youthness.

Built in the 17th century, the building located on rue Faubourg Montmartre, was a theater and a ballroom before entrepreneur Fabrice Emaer transformed it into one of the hottest nightclubs. Le Palace is a mythical place to combine past and present. It has been a secret hideaway for many and a club of creatives. Personalities such as Mick Jagger, Roland Barthes, Prince, Thierry Mugler, Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld used to go there. And many others. Le Palace embodies utopia: it has combined aristocrats and punks and has welcomed the Parisian LGBT community.

In a timeless Art Decò space, the new collection was presented through a dispersive imagery symptom of metropolitan alienation. The atmosphere was punctuated by the provocative sound of Suicide, the duo of musicians active since the Seventies composed by Alan Vega and Martin Rev, two protagonists of CBGB and new wave music scene.

The collection tells the values of those subversive years mixed with the designer’s visionary irreverence, punctuated by his very personal rockstar attitude, edgy silhouettes, and refined textures. The items communicate a sense of nonconformism modulated by elegant tailoring, faux-fur coats, leather fabrics and accessories; lurex fringes, studs and cropped elements defined the new collection.

Phoebe Philo’s back: in September the debut of her new label

If you were wondering what happened to the British fashion designer, after the announcement of her unexpected return, the mystery is solved. Two days ago, Phoebe Philo posted on her Instagram the launch of the new brand coming soon in September.

“Being back in my studio creating was exciting and incredibly fulfilling. I can’t wait to get back in touch with my audience and with people from all over the world. Being independent, governing and experimenting on my own terms is hugely meaningful to me,” she said.

The designer is particularly loved by the fashion system. Definitely, for the position of creative director at Céline from 2008 to 2018, but, in particular, for the contribution made to Chloé women’s collections from 2001 to 2006. She developed many of the aesthetic elements that were been until then chained to the female wardrobe of the Nineties. Straight lines, cold and pastel colors had not yet succeeded in freeing women from that ‘sexualized’ vision of previous eras. Phoebe Philo has managed to mark the history of modern femininity by bringing to the stage a pure and self-confident minimalism. Between relaxed and essential silhouettes, her aesthetic tells stories of free and independent women.

A Better Mistake x 999999999

A Better Mistake has unveiled the new collaboration linked to the musical world with techno duo 999999999.

The core of the capsule is the oversized t-shirt. The garment perfectly summarizes the passion for electronic music of Simone Ferraro and Marco Agnolin, founders of ABM, with asymmetries, fluid cuts and leisurewear fabrics that make up the genderless and seasonless aesthetic of the brand. While the graphics developed in collaboration with the New York artist Running Files recall psychedelic acid techno covers of the Nineties.

Immediately sold out, a new drop of the collection is expected these days. So, stay tuned!

Burberry unveils the first campaign curated by new creative director Daniel Lee

Last year Burberry appointed Daniel Lee as new Chief Creative Officer.

After leaving the position from Bottega Veneta, which he held since 2018, and with a past at Céline, Maison Margiela and Balenciaga, Daniel Lee has now landed at Burberry. With the aim of supervising all the collections, the debut of his first womenswear collection is scheduled for February 20th during London Fashion Week.

With the aim of giving the public a taste of what will be his tribute, the new Burberry campaign photographed by Tyrone Lebon and set among Albert Bridge and Trafalgar Square, has been unveiled.

A detail catches your eye: the new brand logo designed to announce the re-branding. We could say that Lee has dusted off the archives as the historical image of the equestrian knight reappears: a symbol of greatness, pride, and purity. On the one hand, he holds the shield which symbolizes protection. On the other hand, there’s a flag engraved with the word ‘Prorsum’ (from the Latin ‘Forward’). We could say a lucky charm to start the new era.

Highlights from Copenhagen Fashion Week: what to keep your eyes on

The Scandinavian Fashion Week ended a few days ago and the news for FW23 that emerged from the greenest fashion week were not a few. Here are our favorite brands of the season:

(di)vision

The presentation of the co-ed collection of (di)vision was like attending an after party. By that we definitely mean the tablecloth that turned into the train of the wine-stained skirt worn by model Sara Dahling. The strong presence of a well-thought narrative and scenography captured everyone’s attention. Tables set with dirty plates and glasses, cigarette butts and candles set the stage for a completely ‘freak’ catwalk that’s punk is not enough to say.

P.L.N.

P.L.N. staged a gothic apocalypse for FW23. A completely dark catwalk was illuminated at times by beams of white light to highlight the garments made entirely of sustainable leather coming mainly from deadstock and embellished with studs and metal elements. A palette composed of blacks, dark browns and a gray scale is the final piece that builds the brand’s gorpcore and utilitarian identity.

Latimmier

In an intimate and relaxed setting, the new Latimmier collection seemed to recite the line of a love poem with look after look. In this era of acceleration and schizophrenia, fashion is still love but also the fear of not making it. The founder Ervin Latimer recounted these intimate sensations in the folds and silhouettes of the clothes that hide the metamorphosis of a time compressed into too fleeting moments.
