Hypermaremma presenta con entusiasmo l’evento inaugurale della sesta edizione, sabato 30 dicembre alle 16:30, con la partecipazione di Claire Fontaine e la sua opera ‘Left & Right.’ Questo evento segna il congedo dal vecchio anno, accogliendo con vigore il nuovo e prolungando il programma durante la stagione invernale.

‘Left & Right (2023)’ di Claire Fontaine emerge da un’indagine sulle ’emoticon’ più utilizzate, presentando agli spettatori un simbolo significativo di un nuovo linguaggio umano. Quest’opera mira a racchiudere emozioni ed espressioni in semplici messaggi stilizzati, superando il bisogno di parole. Attraverso la ricerca artistica sulle ’emoticon,’ Claire Fontaine trasforma simboli immediati in una lingua visiva universale, superando barriere linguistiche e introducendo una nuova forma di espressione globale.

Durante l’inaugurazione della sesta edizione di Hypermaremma, gli artisti presentano quest’installazione suggestiva sulla sommità di una collina presso la Fattoria Stendardi. Questa creazione luminosa sorge fra i resti di una struttura rurale incompleta, trasmettendo un forte messaggio interpretativo alla regione della Maremma. Illuminando i cieli notturni come un messaggio ultraterreno sospeso nel vuoto e sottolineando sottilmente l’impatto umano sul pianeta durante il giorno, l’opera avvia un dialogo con la natura, un aspetto fondamentale della missione di Hypermaremma.

Chi è Claire Fontaine?

Claire Fontaine è un collettivo artistico fondato nel 2004 a Parigi da James Thornhill e Fulvia Carnevale e dal 2017 ha sede a Palermo. Il nome del collettivo deriva da un famoso marchio francese di cancelleria. Ispirato alla ‘Fontana’ di Marcel Duchamp, il collettivo sottolinea una pratica neo-concettuale, sfidando l’autorialità e rielaborando icone popolari. Definitosi ‘artisti ready-made,’ enfatizza l’importanza della cooperazione rispetto al genio individuale. Esplorando la realtà come punto focale del loro lavoro, utilizzano vari media, in particolare installazioni luminose tratte dal linguaggio delle insegne stradali e fotografie che risuonano fortemente negli spazi pubblici e nella vita quotidiana.

‘Left & Right (2023)’ by Claire Fontaine emerges from an exploration of the most frequently used ’emoticons,’ presenting viewers with a significant symbol of a new human language. This artwork aims to encapsulate emotions and expressions within simple stylized messages, surpassing the need for words. Through artistic research on ’emoticons,’ Claire Fontaine transforms immediate symbols into a universal visual language, transcending linguistic barriers and introducing a new form of global expression.

During the inauguration of Hypermaremma’s sixth edition, artists showcase this evocative installation atop a hill at Fattoria Stendardi. This luminous creation stands amidst the remnants of an incomplete rural structure, delivering a strong interpretive message to the Maremma region. Illuminating the night skies as an otherworldly suspended message and subtly emphasizing human impact on the planet during daylight hours, the artwork initiates a dialogue with nature, a fundamental aspect of Hypermaremma’s mission.

Who is Claire Fontaine?

Claire Fontaine is an artistic collective founded in 2004 in Paris by James Thornhill and Fulvia Carnevale, and since 2017 has been based in Palermo. The collective’s name derives from a famous French stationery brand. Inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s ‘Fontana,’ the collective emphasizes a neo-conceptual practice, challenging authorship and reworking popular icons.
