Avvicinare tre mondi apparentemente molto distanti: coniugare tennis, musica e moda attraverso una parola che possa rappresentare queste tre arti, Wimbledon.

Il concetto del tennis come arte, aderisce alla musica nella sua combinazione più rappresentativa nel brano “Wimbledon 1980” del produttore italiano Indian Wells. Basata su un sample di uno scambio tra Bjorn Borg e John McEnroe nella storica finale, il brano pone l’attenzione tra telecronache dell’epoca ed arpeggiatori che ricordano il suono di una pallina da tennis, facendo di questo pezzo una clamorosa descrizione di quella che molti definiscono una delle partite più belle del Novecento.

Il mondo della moda e quello del tennis si sono storicamente mescolati. Difatti, l’unione tra activewear e creatività è stata un’idea così innovativa da scuotere il mondo della moda in un modo che risuona ancora oggi. Grazie “all’atmosfera da bordo campo” che sta facendo tendenza, i brands hanno iniziato a dare una propria impronta alla classica uniforme da tennis rendendola in grado di strizzare l’occhio ai trend più attuali.

I marchi di moda si sono ispirati all’atmosfera da campo e l’hanno resa parte integrante del loro DNA stilistico portando il tennis in passerella. Un codice stilistico costruito sul preciso studio delle proporzioni e della volontà di reinterpretare una nuova eleganza.

“Attraverso la creazione di contenuti e lo sviluppo di prodotti veri e propri, questa impennata di popolarità dell’abbigliamento da tennis ha definito la nuova tendenza che possiamo definire tenniscore mescolando l’abbigliamento tecnico tradizionale con aspetti di streetwear moderno e influenze dell’era digitale.”

Torna quindi una nostalgia estetica tennistica degli anni 80-90 che si riappropria dei propri spazi con una visione contemporanea e più digital-oriented.

Bringing together three seemingly very distant worlds: combining tennis, music, and fashion through a word that can represent these three arts: Wimbledon.

The concept of tennis as art adheres to music in its most representative combination in the track “Wimbledon 1980” by Italian producer Indian Wells. Based on a sample of an exchange between Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe in the historic final, the track sets the focus between commentary from the era and arpeggiators reminiscent of the sound of a tennis ball, making this piece a resounding description of what many call one of the most beautiful matches of the twentieth century.

The worlds of fashion and tennis have historically intermingled. The union of activewear and creativity was such an innovative idea that it shook the fashion world in a way that still resonates today. Thanks to the “courtside vibe” trending, brands have begun to put their spin on the classic tennis uniform by making it wink at current trends.

Fashion brands have taken inspiration from the courtside atmosphere and made it an integral part of their style DNA by bringing tennis to the runway—a style code built on the detailed study of proportions and the desire to reinterpret a new elegance.

“Through content creation and actual product development, this surge in the popularity of tennis apparel has defined the new trend we can call tenniscore, mixing traditional technical apparel with aspects of modern streetwear and influences from the digital age.”

Thus, a nostalgic tennis aesthetic from the 1980s-1990s is back, reclaiming its space with a contemporary and more digitally oriented vision.
